Lavochkin La-7

La-7 two-gun / three-gun routes · VVS Guards fighter regiments · 1944–1945
Soviet VVS route with regiment, front and field-finish context

The Lavochkin La-7 was the refined late-war development of the La-7 family and one of the Soviet VVS’s best fighters of 1944–45. It served with elite Guards regiments, including Ivan Kozhedub’s famous aircraft, during Operation Bagration, East Prussia and the final drive to Berlin. For modellers it means a clean late-war Lavochkin profile, red stars, AMT-11/12 grey over blue camouflage, two- or three-cannon armament routes, Guards markings, exhaust staining, oil grime and restrained late-war airfield wear.

La-7 operations · 1944–1945

The La-7 was a cleaner, faster and more refined Lavochkin fighter than the La-7FN. It appeared during the Soviet advance west and became a prestige late-war VVS fighter, associated with Guards regiments and famous aces such as Ivan Kozhedub. A good La-7 build starts with the exact aircraft: standard two-cannon La-7, three-cannon route, Kozhedub subject, Bagration/East Prussia campaign aircraft, Berlin route or survivor/reference build.

Build difficulty and related guides

Overall difficulty

Medium. Clean lines and late-war finish make accuracy more important than heavy weathering.

Armament difficulty

Medium-high. Two/three cannon fit and cowling details must match the chosen aircraft.

Weathering difficulty

Medium. Late-war La-7s benefit from restraint: exhaust, oil, mud and worn walkways.
