SB2U operations · 1937–1942
The SB2U Vindicator sits between the colourful pre-war Navy and the desperate early Pacific War. It served from US carriers, trained Navy scout-bomber crews and, most famously, equipped Marine VMSB-241 at Midway. A good model starts with the route: clean pre-war carrier SB2U-1/2, early blue-grey Navy aircraft, or weathered Marine SB2U-3s on Midway with fading, dust and rough-field wear.

Build this SB2U as…
Pick the service/date first. A pre-war Navy aircraft, early carrier SB2U, Marine SB2U-3 at Midway and survivor/reference route all need different finish and weathering choices.
Aircraft identity
SB2U-1, SB2U-2 and SB2U-3 details differ. Check canopy, cowling, antennae, bomb crutch, rear gun and markings before committing.
Pre-war yellow-wing aircraft, Navy blue-grey aircraft and Marine Midway aircraft should not be weathered the same way.
